Miracles
I believe in miracles. I believe in a God who can and does do miracles. When I think of this, I usually mean miracles of healing for people when they are prayed for.
But then I reflected on my earlier post about word, deed, and sign. One of the ways Christians can show others there is a God and he is powerful is through signs – miraculous works.
Today is Earth Day, and we were focusing on caring for God’s creation and struggling with the complexities of it all, and then it struck me that I don’t often look for or prayer for miraculous physical healing for the non-human creation. I may pray for miraculous change of heart / mind for leaders. But I don’t ever pray for a contaminated site to be “cleaned up”.
To pray for something like that, I’d have to believe it to be possible, and I’ve just never thought about it before. Yet, the miracle of feeding the five thousand was that sort of miracle. Physical food was multiplied to feed the crowd.
May I pray with new found faith and belief!
