Beyond simply morality
What does it mean to be a Christian in your workplace?
We need to go further than a simple Christian morality. Yes, we all need to act with integrity, be honest, work hard, avoid gossip, complaining and jealousy. Sure, we need to look for opportunities to share the gospel with any who do not know Christ. These would be the same for any job any Christian has.
But we need to do more. What is unique about your job that has a separate response. Something that connects with structural evil perhaps.
Let’s take a janitor, for example. What is unique? Janitors are caretakers and caretaking is mentioned often in the Bible. Maybe a Christian janitor will work to take care of a place, not simply clean it. And then call other to not harm or destroy a building, but to call others to take care of it also.
What about for your work or profession? Lawyers, nurses, insurance agents, farmers, software developers, food servers, bus drivers…
